Jerusalem, June 16 (UNI) The Israeli Dence Forces, on Monday, provided the first statistics of its air defence systems’ interception of Iran's ballistic missiles, with a massive success rate of 80-90 percent.
However, the barrage of strikes has also left 5-10 percent of its airspace vulnerable to attacks.
This was demonstrated by Tehran’s recent strikes on Israeli residential areas, which killed five civilians and left dozens injured.
Eight more people were killed in Iran's Sunday-Monday middle-of-the-night attacks, bringing the total number of civilian deaths to 24 in total, as per The Jerusalem Post.
At 4:00 AM, approximately 40 ballistic missiles were launched, bringing the total number of such missiles fired to around 350. Strikes were reported in Tel Aviv, Petach Tikva, and Bnei Brak, resulting in fatalities.
To date, the Iranian missile salvos have focused on the Gush Dan/Tel Aviv/central Israel area, the Haifa area and the Beersheba area, with very limited success, as almost all infrastructure has remained undamaged.
Some fatalities have however been reported in Tel Aviv and Bat Yam.
The IDF said that the Israeli air force's success in destroying dozens of missile launchers and many missiles has reduced the pace of Iranian missiles launched, from launching hundreds at a time to dozens at a time.
The Israeli military added that it is also continuously evolving its tactics and updating its battle plans to understand and counter Iran’s missile strikes, which have likewise been changing their methods and making adjustments to their systems to outplay Israeli defences.
